EMDR Therapy
At MK Therapy, I offer Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy, a proven and powerful approach to healing from trauma, anxiety, and distressing life experiences. Whether you’ve been through a single traumatic event or are struggling with long-term emotional pain, EMDR can help you process and release what’s holding you back.
What is EMDR Therapy?
EMDR is an evidence-based psychotherapy method designed to help the brain reprocess traumatic memories. When we experience something overwhelming, our brain sometimes struggles to fully process it. As a result, memories may become "stuck" and continue to trigger emotional and physical responses long after the event has passed.
EMDR works by using bilateral stimulation—typically eye movements, tapping, or auditory cues—while you recall aspects of the traumatic memory. This process helps the brain reprocess the memory so it feels less intense and more manageable. Over time, what once felt overwhelming becomes something you can remember without reliving.
What Can EMDR Help With?
EMDR is most well-known for treating Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), but it’s also highly effective for a wide range of issues, including:
- Childhood trauma or neglect
- Anxiety and panic attacks
- Depression and negative self-beliefs
- Grief and loss
- Phobias and fears
- Emotional triggers in relationships
- Performance anxiety
- Recovery from abuse (emotional, physical, or sexual)
If you’ve tried talk therapy and felt stuck, EMDR may offer a new way forward.

What to Expect in an EMDR Session?
I will work with you to identify a specific target memory and the thoughts, emotions, and body sensations linked to it. You’ll then engage in short sets of bilateral stimulation while focusing on the memory.
The process is carefully paced to ensure your emotional safety. Sessions may also include grounding techniques, coping strategies, and time for reflection. Many clients begin to feel relief in just a few sessions, though the number of sessions needed varies by person.
I understand how painful and isolating trauma can be—and how brave it is to seek healing. My approach is compassionate, individualized, and grounded in your goals and comfort level.
I believe that healing isn’t just possible—it’s something you deserve. I am here to support you every step of the way.
